In 2016, Bailey first tried wakesurfing. By 2017, she was competing as an amateur and won the World Wakesurfing Championships in Surf. In 2018, she won the World Wakesurfing Championships in Surf as an Outlaw. In 2023 Bailey Rush became the first female to win world titles in both surf and skim in the professional division. “It’s always been my goal to win worlds at the pro level in both surf style and skim style.” She went on to defend her skim and surf titles again in 2024. Bailey is very passionate about coaching the proper techniques and fundamentals of surf and skim because they are such different styles. Not many people do both styles, let alone compete in both, due to the very different skills required. It is Bailey’s goal to coach wakesurfers to have fun and accomplish their goals in either, or both styles! When asked whether Bailey likes surf or skim more she replies, “I like them both for different reasons.” This is what inspired Bailey creating lesson videos specific for surf or skim. Skills transfer, but the technique is different.
